PERSONALITY:Haruhi is an extraordinarily independent person. Since her mother’s death, she has relied almost completely on herself. Because of her family’s lack of money, Haruhi has become an extraordinarily hard worker, who is a bit of a perfectionist. She is an ace at her studies, earning the highest marks in her class, and the initial scholarship to the academy. Haruhi is extraordinary down to earth. She is very sensible, and not at all frivolous like most of the students surrounding her at the academy, earning her the “natural type” in the host club. She has found the delicate balance between following her head and her heart, which comes as an advantage against her friends, who usually just choose one over the other. To combat her friends rather eccentric behavior, Haruhi is one of the most sarcastic people one could meet. She tries to act as if she is completely indestructible, but Haruhi feels even deeper than most. Her only true fear she has admitted to is of thunder storms, but her deepest, secret fear is to be abandoned again by someone she loves, which is why it is difficult for her to allow people to become that close to her in her life. Oh, and her biggest weakness? Fancy tuna. She can be bribed to do practically anything for that stuff.

APPEARANCE:
Haruhi is a rather unusual student in her dressing habits. Instead of donning the female uniform at Ouran, she has always worn the male version. Comfort is her choice when styling an outfit, and she pays no attention to the latest fashion trends. When not at Ouran or with the host club, she does take on a bit of a feminine appearance, often choosing loose fitting dresses or skirts to hide her tiny frame of a figure. Haruhi knows she has a very boyish figure, which is often what leads to people mistaking her for a male student. Her cropped haircut only adds to her boyish appearance, though she is known to sometimes opt for hair extensions to make herself look more girlish. Her large brown eyes matching her hair are often called her most attractive feature, and they instantly captivate any who choose to gaze too long.

HISTORY:
Haruhi Fujioka grew up in a rather normal family. Her two loving parents doted upon their wonderful little girl from the day she was born. Despite their lack of money, the family was a happy one, residing in a small apartment just comfortable enough to live in. They had the necessities, and that was more than enough.

Sadly, when young Haruhi turned five years old, tragedy struck. Her beautiful and patient mother came down with a horrible disease. She was immediately hospitalized and died three months later. Haruhi’s father was traumatized by the experience. He vowed to never love another woman, and became a cross dresser / transvestite so he could attract a different sex. Haruhi turned her grief into her inspiration to achieve. Since her mother’s death, Haruhi has been working practically non stop at becoming the best student she could be, following as best she could in her mother’s footsteps. Although her father is not often around, he is extraordinarily proud of his dear little girl, who somehow managed to get one of the greatest scholarships to the prestigious Ouran Academy.

Once at the academy, Haruhi quickly rose to the top of her class. Her life was filled with mundane activities; she was just trying to get by. The excitement picked up when one fateful day, she happened to knock over a priceless vase in Music Room #3. She, of course, could not pay the price for her horrible mishap, so it was decided amongst the host club, to whom she was now indebted to, that she would work off the cost as a host. Since that moment, she has become one of them, participating reluctantly in all club activities, bit by bit paying off the thousands of yen she owes. She has come to love the other hosts like family, though, one relationship might just be developing into something more.
